Safety at Belmar Aviation

Safety is the foundation of every flight at Belmar Aviation. Our goal is to provide a professional training and rental environment where sound judgment, proper maintenance, clear procedures, and continuous learning guide every operation.

Our standards

Safety Standards We Uphold

A Safety-First Culture

We expect students, instructors, renters, and staff to make conservative, well-informed decisions before and during every flight.

  • Thorough preflight planning
  • Honest go/no-go decision-making
  • Respect for weather, aircraft limitations, and personal minimums
  • Clear communication between students, instructors, renters, and staff
  • Prompt reporting of maintenance concerns
  • A no-pressure approach to delaying or cancelling a flight when conditions are not appropriate

Aircraft Maintenance and Inspections

Our aircraft are maintained in accordance with applicable FAA requirements and manufacturer guidance.

  • Required inspections and scheduled maintenance
  • Routine oil changes and preventive maintenance
  • Prompt evaluation of reported discrepancies
  • Aircraft grounding when a safety concern requires further inspection
  • Maintenance records and operational status tracking
  • Preflight and postflight condition reporting

Instructor Standards

Our instructors are expected to provide structured, professional training while reinforcing good aeronautical decision-making.

  • Proper FAA certificates and ratings
  • Current qualifications for the training provided
  • Clear preflight and postflight briefings
  • Scenario-based decision-making
  • Respectful, student-focused instruction
  • Consistent use of checklists and standard procedures

Student and Renter Responsibilities

Safety is a shared responsibility.

  • Arrive prepared and fit to fly
  • Follow aircraft checklists and operating limitations
  • Report damage, unusual indications, or maintenance concerns immediately
  • Avoid pressure to continue a flight when conditions deteriorate
  • Follow checkout, currency, and instructor-approval requirements
  • Comply with Belmar policies and applicable FAA regulations
⛅ Weather decisions

Weather and Flight Cancellation Decisions

Weather is a normal part of flight training and aircraft rental.

Flights may be delayed, changed, or cancelled because of:

  • Low ceilings or visibility
  • Strong or gusty winds
  • Thunderstorms
  • Icing risk
  • Aircraft availability
  • Maintenance status
  • Instructor judgment
  • Student or renter proficiency

There is no penalty for making a conservative decision. If conditions are not suitable, we will work with you to reschedule.

See Something? Say Something.

Students, renters, instructors, and staff should report any safety concern, aircraft discrepancy, or unusual event as soon as possible. Reports should be handled professionally and without discouraging good-faith safety reporting.
